When Apple launched the original iPhone accessories, the whole world lined up to have one. Everyone wanted to be the first to have an iPhone. With the launch of the iPhone 3g and the highly anticipated App store, they have thrown down the gauntlet to all smart phone makers worldwide. Apple also made the iPhone not only functional but trendy. So, with fashion and usability in mind there are now many leather iPhone 3g accessories on the market.

With the different types of leather iPhone 3g accessories on the market, you can now complement your dress with the case you chose for your iPhone.

So, what’s out there?

Griffin offers the Elan Leather Holster; this full grain leather embossed case will protect your iPhone from damage from accidental drops as well as adding a smart business look. And for the gunslinger in you, the holster can be attached right to your hip with a two directional leather wrapped clip for when you need to draw your phone in a hurry. The nice thing is that the clip is also able to be attached to pocketbooks, assorted carry bags, backpacks and briefcases.

DLO offers a more traditional leather horizontal holster case, made of Black Lambskin leather with a tan interior. The Velcro tab allows you easy one hand access to your phone; the corners are notched so you can use your headset jack no matter how you place the iPhone in the case.

Any 3g iPhone owner can buy a leather case and holster combo made by Case-Mate. It boasts the finest grain Italian Pebblestone Leather that is wrapped around an impact resistant molded shell, 360-degree rotational clip and a lifetime warranty.

MacAlly Peripherals makes different types of leather iPhone 3g accessories. The company, in addition to offering the Bella line of protective leather cases, also offers form fitting leather cases for iPhones. Made with a stitch seamed Napa leather front and including a neck lanyard this case is more suited to casual attire and has an urban look to it. It has a clear screen protector in the front and openings to all ports and controls. The Bella model comes both in white or black.

If you’d rather keep your iPhone in a your pocket or purse, you can purchase a Black Premium Leather Wallet case from AT&T. Not only is the case professional looking, but it is well made to protect the iPhone from drops and rough handling.

If you are like one of an estimated 75 million owners of a digital camera, at some point in time, your camera will more than likely develop one or more problems and would be in need of digital camera repair. Common problems include cracked LCDs, broken battery doors, jammed lenses or board level problems.

There are a set of digital camera models however, that develop their own unique problems, all stemming back to a batch of defective CCDs that Sony produced and used in these camera models.

What’s the big deal with the faulty CCD? Well Sony produced a series of CCDs for various digital cameras between the years of 2003 and 2005, for at least 20 different models. And in higher heat and humidity conditions, the CCDs would begin to fail, producing some crazy looking images or causing a black screen to show on your camera.

Here is a list of all the bad Sony CCD models that I can find right now, as I find more, I will add them to the list.

The Canon support website holds no forms or other needed documents, so you can save yourself some time (if you live in the US or Puerto Rico) by just calling the Canon Customer Support line at 1-800-828-4040. Support hours are Monday-Friday 8am to 12 midnight, and Saturday from 10am-8pm. (All times EST.) Alternately, you can send email to: carecenter@cits.canon.com.

• FinePix A303 3JA4**** to 3JA5****
• FinePix F410 32A1****, 32A6**** to 32A7****, 32A9****

Serial numbers can be found on the bottom of the cameras. From the Fuji service advisor, the following applies to US customers:

IF SERVICE IS NEEDED:
Package the camera carefully using ample padded material to prevent damage in transit. Include your name, address and phone number with the shipment as well as a general description of the problem. Keep a record of the camera’s serial number and shipment tracking number. Ship your camera to the Fuji Service Center noted below:

Fuji Photo Film U.S.A., Inc.
1100 King George Post Rd.
Edison, NJ 08837
Attn: Camera Repair Dept./CCD Advisory

Konica Minolta Digital Cameras

* DiMAGE Xi
* DiMAGE Xt
* DiMAGE X20
* DiMAGE S414
* DiMAGE F300

Note: Sony has since taken over servicing of Konica-Minolta digital cameras. Sony’s customer support website now lists the affected Konica-Minolta models along with a troubleshooting guide and repair request form.

Kyocera Digital Cameras

* Finecam S3L
* Finecam S5
* Finecam S5R
* Contax TVs

Additional digital cameras added since the original 2005 service advisory by Kyocera include the following:

* Finecam M400R
* Finecam M410R
* Finecam SL400R

At this time, both announcements only seem to cover the Japanese domestic market. We’ve yet to see any announcement from Kyocera in other markets, and would advise customers who have experienced the problem to contact their local Kyocera office to determine whether their camera may be covered under warranty. For customers in Japan, instructions on how to seek repair of the covered digicams can be found in the Japanese-language service advisory.

Leica and Panasonic Digital Cameras

* Leica DIGILUX 2
* Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC1

In December 2006, we told readers about a warranty extension for Leica’s DIGILUX 2 digital camera, covering problems with the CCD image sensor. Given that the Leica DIGILUX 2 is a variant of Panasonic’s Lumix DMC-LC1 design, it isn’t surprising to find that some LC1 digicams can suffer from the same problem.

Panasonic Canada have published a notice on their customer support page indicating a limited number of 2004 model DMC-LC1 digital cameras within a specific range of serial numbers are affected. The serial number ranges are A4SYxxxxx and G4SYxxxxx. Canadian customers are asked to call Panasonic Canada’s toll-free call center number at 1-800-561-5505 for assistance in arranging a free repair.

* Coolpix 3500
* Coolpix 4500
* Coolpix 5000
* Coolpix 5400

There’s a button on the Nikon USA Photography home page, labeled “Coolpix Service Advisory: 3100-5700-SQ-5400-4500-5000-3500″ that displays information in a popup window. Here’s a link to it in a standalone window: Coolpix Service Advisory. Here are links to other pages from the Nikon site, namely the Coolpix Advisory FAQs, and the Service Advisory Product Return Form.

Olympus Digital Cameras

* Camedia C-5050 Zoom
* Camedia C-730 Ultra Zoom

Olympus is distinguishing themselves by offering to repair affected cameras, even if they aren’t displaying the problem yet. Their free repair policy is extended for up to four years from the original purchase date. They do ask that, if your camera is currently operating properly, you hold off on sending it in until after January 2006, due to the high volume of repair business during the holiday season. To determine if your camera is affected, call Olympus repair at 888-553-4448, Monday-Friday, 8am -10pm EST, or email to customersupport@olympus.com.

Pentax USA have published a brief note on their Customer Care & Support homepage which refers customers to a separate PDF file for further information.
As Sony is the original sensor manufacturer for all of the other manufacturers’ products listed above (and given the vast array of products that they manufacture themselves) it should come as no great surprise that Sony has by far, the greatest number of affected products. This should not be taken as indicating any inherent deficiency in Sony products beyond the now discontinued sensors involved.

In this age when everything is hectic, conveniences matter a lot. And with the new feature from Microsoft Vista, having information at your fingertips has become even better. With the advent of the Windows SideShow, viewing and downloading information from one PC to another has never been easier.

The new Microsoft Vista Windows SideShow comes with a feature akin to a picture frame. This wireless-based Vista mechanism supports a secondary screen on your computer. The Windows SideShow from Microsoft Vista can be used to view information from your mobile or desktop computer to a wide variety of devices like on a keyboard’s display, a display embedded on a laptop lid, or one that’s built into your remote control. This Microsoft Vista technology allows users to download information from a computer to another device, keep it for display and have it on standby and ready to be referenced.

With the new Microsoft Vista Windows SideShow, you can check your calendar, scan top news stories or view your Windows Mail inbox without having to turn your computer on. The extra display also allows you to view essential information whether you laptop is on, off or in a sleep mode, saving you both time and battery life. You can also look up appointments and contacts on the secondary screen. Selection and navigation through the accessible functionality is also easy with the little buttons located next to the screen.

The information displayed on a stationary LCD screen is courtesy of an Auxiliary Display Controller (ADC). The LCD screen may be of any size a device designer needs. Screens may range from monochrome panel of a computer’s external surface, on a remote control or on a mobile phone. The Microsoft Vista’s SideShow uses Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) in order to convert information to a type that allows efficient display on the small screens on mobile devices.

The Microsoft Vista tool also has the capacity to use gadgets and mini programs to pull out information from your PC to other devices. Turning gadgets for each of your devices can be turned on or off using a fundamental site in Control Panel called the Windows SideShow. Using the Microsoft Vista tool, you can use gadgets to run on a device that’s Windows Sideshow-compatible and update that device with information from your PC. This gadget then allows you to view information from your computer whether it’s on, off or in the sleep mode.

The Microsoft Vista’s SideShow currently supports a variety of devices that take advantage of the new technology in the display of quick and efficient information. Examples of such devices include: displays embedded in keyboards, displays attached to a laptop, cell phones, remote controls, digital picture frames, televisions, alarm clocks and other display panels. Basically, the devices function in two modes. The State S0 mode is when the computer runs in the normal condition while the display interacts and shows live data. The State S3 mode is the state when the computer is standing by, hibernating or in low power mode.

The SideShow feature provided by Microsoft Vista is available in the following editions: Windows Vista Home Premium, Windows Vista Business, Windows Vista Enterprise, and Windows Vista Ultimate.

Do you face something like this : 2 minutes to boot into Vista, then another 30 seconds just to load start up programs? Indeed many people and website will teach you how to remove or disable unnecessary start up programs, and I do that too! However, some how there are some software I need them at start up, such as Anti Virus, Anti Spyware, Advanced Image capture software, skype, windows messenger, yahoo messenger and much more…How to speed up the boot process if so many programs to load?

What to do? With 1 GB or less RAMs, you have to use ReadyBoost! Too bad not all USB memory sticks is Vista compatible, they may be too slow to activate ReadyBoost, no worry, I will show you how to Force ReadyBoost even on slow memory stick, but you better go to get a 4 GB fast memory stick whenever possible!

How To Force ReadyBoost

Just plug in your memory stick, select the memory stick in your Windows explorer, right click and select “properties” menu, select “ReadyBoost” tab and check on the box “Stop retesting this device…”. Now launch registry editor and find the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionEMDgmt, you should see few USB devices list, select one of them which represent the memory stick you want, change the “Device Status” to a value “2″. If the “ReadSpeedKBs” and “WriteSpeedKBs” is below “1000″ in hexadecimal, change to “1000″.

Unplug your USB memory stick and re-plug again, you should be able to configure your USB for ReadyBoost! This is a cheap way to do, better than nothing. However, you really need a to get a faster drive.

Before you setup ReadyBoost, format your USB drive to the maximum allocation unit -> 64 Kbytes. Then change the hardware policies for this drive to “Optimize for performance”. You can do that by right click and select “properties” menu on the drive, click on the “Hardware” tab then select the device and click “Properties” button. After properties Window launch, select “Polices” tab.

Restart your computer now, after boot into Windows, allow 5 ~ 10 minutes time for Superfetch to fully cache data into the memory stick.

After this setup or you have 2 GB RAM or more, the next trick you need to learn is how to properly schedule your start up processes, reassign priority to your start up programs and massively cut down your boot time and launch application faster.
